I can tell you that I have this in an 11 X 14 room with cathedral ceilings and I have absolutely NO issues with the sound quality! The picture quality is fabulous and the set up was so simple. I installed this tv a few days ago. It replaces a 2000 Daewoo that served me well for 9 years. I was forced to upgrade my television because my cable provider started pulling good channels off of regular cable and putting them on digital. I tried to install the new cable box to the Daewoo but that tv had no inputs other than the cable input (I was already using an RF converter box and thus was approaching cable overload). So I reluctantly ended up buying the Toshiba 22AV500U here. After all of the work and money, I must say that I am pleased with the results. Digital cable is fun and has a lot of features and all of my shows have never looked clearer or sharper. I am also enjoying watching my dvds on the Toshiba tv. You have not seen Polar Express until you've seen it in high definition!



The Toshiba is high quality. I have no dead pixels and no backlight bleed. I did have an issue with the stand not moving when I first pulled it out of the box but that was because I wasn't pulling hard enough (you never know how delicate these modern electronics are). I also ended up calling Toshiba customer support a few times. Each time I talked to someone knowledgeable and helpful.



As for the size, I have found 22 inches to be more than adequate. I have a smallish entertainment center and didn't want to upgrade that too. The tv is in a rather large living room and there isn't a bad seat in the room.



I also should mention that at work my Dell lcd monitor made me so sick that I had to go back to the old crt monitor. The issue I think is that lcds are lit by a florescent bulb. Because florescent bulbs flash like a strobe light they can sometimes make you feel ill when you stare into them. I have had no issues with that with my Toshiba.



I also highly recommend that you use an hdmi cable between your dvd player and the Toshiba (and everywhere else you can too). I bought mine here on Amazon for a few dollars (the 6 ft 1080p cable by DVI Gear). It is an excellent cable. What the local stores charge for the same thing is quite scandalous.

I love this TV because my husband likes a TV in the bedroom and I don't. I lost but at least I don't have to look at a big ugly tv taking up space. This thing is very aesthetically pleasing! Super sleek. Fits on our fireplace mantel and blends in with the pictures. The sound is just fine. We have a large room and we keep it at 8 for night TV and 24 for when my kids and husband are showering and getting ready. It plays our CDs too so that takes care of more cluttering electronics!

I have a large old Toshiba analog ,cathode ray tube tv that has served me well for many years, so i bought this even tho i think it is over-priced. I do not notice the 720p limited definition and my very old parents certainly don't.



There are few white case /frame TVs available so this was a big plus in a brightly painted breakfast dining area. And as i said in the title, there is no separate dvd box and cable clutter with a separate remote. The left edge dvd player works great and is so easy to use. I would make the left edge markings larger for those with bifocals. 22" is a good size for viewing from 10-15 feet away, as that was a concern at first.

I did find ONE BIG PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NO LOUD VOLUME, just low and medium/conversation level. Also ,as another reviewer has pointed out, there is no favorite channels/return channel button, as on most remotes. Also wish this and all remotes were dark illuminated to you can find the right button without turning a lamp on.



The parents have Comcast , so the nice easy-to-understand white Toshiba remote gets no use and we are forced to use the 53 button, very confusing, overly complicated and cheap-looking black Comcast remote. Do wish Toshiba would keep the dvd controls below the switch circle, for more practical layout.



I would recommend this TV to a friend, but at a big annual sale price, not full retail.

The Toshiba 22LV506 is a stylish, satisfying and space-saving solution for anyone who lives in limited space, but there is a major flaw which is big enough to take the rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. There is no back/last channel button! I thought this was standard for any TV with a remote control by now. So you can't jump from one channel to another. Its a major inconvenience to type the channel you want to go to or use the channel up and down buttons. TVs half this size and half this price have back buttons. Anyway, other than this flaw the Toshiba 22LV506 delivers everything else you need in a nice little package.

We don't watch a lot of TV in our household so this is our only TV and it suits us fine. It has a good clear picture, with an easy to use DVD player and remote. However, the sound is a little under powered. We purchased a cheap PC speaker/sub woofer system to remedy that and it's been just fine.

Over all, I like the quality of this TV. However, based on the quality and prices of tvs in it's size class, I would definitely not recommend this tv if you have room for a component DVD player. The only reason I purchased this tv was for convenience and space. You can definitely get a better TV for less without the built in DVD. If space isn't an issue, save your money.

I chose this mostly for the price and I think it's an okay tv. I'm having trouble getting the color just right. I can make the people any cool or warm shade of pink or green or orange, just not flesh. Oddly, it's gotten better with time (or maybe I'm just used to it now). Other people have complained about the sound, but it's fine on mine. It projects forward, so if I'm not in front of it I just have to turn up the volume. Since it's my bedroom tv, I like that the buttons on the remote are lit up.

I also wanted it to be big enough to work well in a bedroom or a college dorm in the future. This tv is fabulous. Really great picture. Super easy to set-up. Sleek and unobtrusive looking when not on, and gorgeous when set to an HDTV channel. Sound is very good. Remote is small and easy to use. Delivery was straight-forward; we just had to pick it up at UPS since they wanted a signature in order to drop it off and we work full time. We are very happy with this purchase.

1. it is a very good TV

2. sound is not a problem. change Dolby Digital Dynamic Range settings to "compressed". also what do you expect from a small TV ... for example I expect just OK sound

3 it tilts about 15-20 degrees backward and 2-3 degrees forward. 22" samsung does not. as it happens with all LCDs picture gets darker if you look from the angle ...especially from bellow. if it is your case tilt it forward or place something under the back of the base to tilt it forward (base is wide and stable).

4. 22" should be your minimal size. 19" will be good as a office TV but it is too small for even a small bedroom.

5. contrast and colors are excellent, definitely not worse then samsung one has...I even like toshiba's more

6. remote is super convenient, it has has "favorite channels" button

7. channels changing is relatively quick

8. toshiba looks like a real TV set opposite to 22" samsung which looks like a PC monitor

I picked this tv up about a month ago. The main purpose was actually for a pc monitor. I have this hooked up hdmi to an hdmi ASUS EN9600GSO/DI/512MD3/V2 video card. The blu-ray playback is flawless. The picture quality is amazing. The sound from the speakers are ok but I have them turned off and use my 2.1 surround sound from my pc. Overall I've been happy with this tv/monitor and for the price at the time it was well worth it.

I am happy with this product. It came in good condition although I had troubles with the delivery. If you ask for standard shipping then you might have to take time off from work to wait for UPS to deliver it. UPS would not just drop it off since you have to sign for it. So anyway, overall we are happy with this product. It looks really nice and the pictures are great. The only downside to it is that the sound isn't that great. I would have to install speakers to get great sound.

We've had this TV for about six months now. It is in my sons room and he mainly watches movies on it, so I can't speak about over the air signals or quality in that regard. Overall it is a solid TV that serves its purpose. The volume is very weak and inconsistent. It is somewhat overlooked by the fact it is used in a small bedroom for a 2 1/2 year old. If this tv were being used in a larger room or perhaps in the kitchen I do not think the volume would be sufficient. The picture quality is great and it uses a very small footprint. The tv itself is very light and can be moved easily if needed. The built in dvd was the main seller for us and it has performed well. overall, a very good secondary tv.

Don't believe what you read. This was a set purchased for use in a bedroom. The sound quality I've experienced is excellent, more than adequate in volume. We were looking for a relatively inexpensive HD television to replace a small 13" RCA CRT in the bedroom. Since we already own other Vizio equipment that we are quite happy with, we decided on this model. It has a good assortment of inputs: 2 HDMI, VGA, Component, Composite, SVideo, and coax. We've found the picture quality from both our HD cable box and our Blu-Ray player to be very nice via HDMI. We haven't experienced any viewing angle issues. SD signals are generally good as well. There is some fuzziness, but that's normal when viewing SD content on an HD set. Most of the time it's barely noticable. The sound, however, is not as good. It sounds a bit hollow and tinny, no matter how we adjust the bass and treble. I think our old RCA actually had better sound, and that's the only thing that stops me from being able to give the Vizio 5 stars.



In short, if you can get around the slightly dissappointing sound, the VA220E is a very good choice if you're looking for a smaller HD set with a lower price tag and an excellent picture.

I purchased this TV for my 13 year old after repainting his room and kicking out his younger brother. The picture is clear and very vibrant. Side and angle viewing is also good. The audio has an SRS surround mode which sounds great at higher levels. At low levels it can be a bit empty with little bass but if you turn it up great spatial sound comes through. Remember, when you are looking at these TV's at your local WalMart what you are seeing is a direct feed digital signal, DO NOT expect this kind of quality unless you have high def reception or are watching a DVD. Also, depending on how your cable provider sends it's signal you may still see black bars on the top and bottom of the pictue. I spoke with Vizio Support about this and they were very helpful and explained. To be honest, my old 19inch CRT still has a bigger and better picture for normal television viewing!

I purchased this televion once my old standard definition CRT television died right in time for the digital transition. After doing some comparison shopping I happened upon this TV and chose it to replace my old 19" CRT. The first thing you'll notice about this television is its relative weightlessness, while common for flat screens is a nice change from cumbersome CRT's. Also setup is very easy and once hooked up to an HD digital cable box through one of the two HDMI ports the picture quality difference is immediate.



Initially the television was connected to my HD cable box via the coaxial port on the back of the TV. Surmised from many a HDTV review I expected standard definition shows to look worse once connected via HDMI but I guess going from coaxial (the bottom of the barrel) to HDMI (top of the line) provides an increase rather then decline, even in the visual integrity of standard definition shows and HD shows are on whole new level. Vibrant colors, nice crisp images and great line quality are the qualities sorely lacking from standard definition programing and televisions. Also I had no problems with the viewing angle what so ever. If I had to down this television for anything, it would be that the audio quality is lacking (an apparent hallmark of smaller flat screens) but i'd recomend an external speaker setup to remedy this. Besides that small nitpick this set has my stamp of approval.



If you're searching for an HD-TV television that provides great value without sacrificing quality i'd fully recomend this set.

Has a very nice picture and the tuner, on rabbit ears, does a better job than the 13" analog TV it replaces. I see reviewer said it has poor off angle viewing but that is definitely not true on the unit I have. Also read a review elsewhere that thought off angle viewing was good. Sound is not as good as my 42" panasonic but its a fraction of the cost and size, its good for what it is. Much more viewable picture size than a 19" would be in the office where I have it. Would like to see an output for a recorder.
