I have owned this TV\DVD player for over 6 months now, and I simply love it. I use it in my master bedroom and the size is just perfect, I use for my tv use, not so much for the DVD use for I enjoy the sound coming from my home theather system that is hooked up with my Toshiba A-30 HD DVD player. great DVD picture, I also like the blacks and the contrast is good. minor con in my eyes is that when you switch channels it takes about .5 seconds for a picture to pop up. otherwise - smooth sailing.

The picture on this unit is very dark. I attempted to calibrate the brightness/contrast/color/tint using the Avia NTSC calibration. Even when calibrated (brightness up around 42), the unit has serious issues with the color red. Darker/shadows look red and blurry.



DVD playback was similarly flawed. Poor red coloring. The unit also did not seem to properly detect widescreen DVDs and use the appropriate display resolution. Instead, you need to cycles through the 'TheatreWide' pic size settings trying to get the unit to display properly. Movies, despite the resolution, appeared to have jagged lines. Some type of poor scaling is going on even when in the modes that should be displaying without stretching or scaling.



This unit will be going back. Thre is also a 20HLV86 model but the Toshiba website has the same info for both unit. I cannot figure out what the difference is.



The VESA mouting holes were nice and the audio is fine. The picture quality, especially with DVD playback, is unacceptable.



The remote is poorly laid out.

I have larger Toshiba LCD TV's that I use HD on and love. THis is a smaller version that fits nicely on a kitchen countertop under the overhanging upper cabinets. The picture is quite good without the HD converter and the sound is very good. I spent $15 on a better cable (at Radio Shack) than the one provided and that helped a lot with picture quality. One negative: it does not have a digital tuner built in. No ad will tell you this, although Toshiba has a sticker on the front of the TV to inform the consumer. This is true of any brand.

Our Bedroom is 16' x 12' and we needed a good all around HD ready, LCD Flat Screen TV for the room, and this 20" fit our criteria nicely. It sits on the dresser and blends into the rest of the room well. The Instruction Manual for the remote control was well written & easy to understand. The picture and sound quality is just fine for our needs. We dont have the HD set up yet, so I can speak to that, but this is a very nice TV for the money.

This television is great! Finding an LCD TV with DVD included is rare and for the price it is an amazing find. You don't have to worry about having an extra box for DVD's! Excellent picture. I have never had a problem with it and I absolutely love it!
